Valley Ridge and The Cottages are locally owned and operated by the same family and team. When you pair the two venues, we coordinate the ceremony, transportation and reception through one plan and one point of contact.
Located just three miles from Valley Ridge, The Cottages offers a destination-wedding feel without leaving Illinois. Add a lakeside ceremony, nearby guest lodging and extra time together to turn your wedding day into a full wedding weekend.
A complimentary shuttle bus is included for several hours. Guests can park at Valley Ridge and ride to and from The Cottages, so their vehicles are already at the reception at the end of the night. On-site parking is also available. Extended shuttle times and transportation upgrades can be added.

LODGING & WEEKEND EXTRAS
The Cottages has 10 units that sleep between two and 14 guests each. Together, they can accommodate approximately 30–55 guests depending on groupings. The cottages also make comfortable getting-ready spaces for wedding parties.
Add a morning-after breakfast buffet catered by Valley Ridge, starting at $12 per person. Or take the celebration onto the lake with our rental tritoon—hire a captain or, for qualified renters, take the helm for your own “Just Married” cruise.
Lodging, boat rentals and additional experiences are booked separately and subject to availability.

Our climate-controlled, draped event pavilion brings dinner, drinks, dancing and late-night fun together in one welcoming space. With warm lighting, a full-service indoor bar and a dedicated dance floor, it feels polished while still leaving plenty of room to make the celebration your own.
Valley Ridge is especially comfortable for weddings of approximately 120–140 guests. We can also accommodate smaller celebrations or up to 200 guests with a tighter floor plan.

Your venue rental includes access to our growing collection of wedding décor. During your design-planning meeting, we will review the available options, talk through your style and create a plan for the pieces you would like our team to place.

HOW MANY GUESTS CAN VALLEY RIDGE ACCOMMODATE?
Weddings with approximately 120–140 guests fit especially comfortably. We can host smaller celebrations or accommodate up to 200 guests with a tighter floor plan.
WHEN IS WEDDING SEASON?
Our primary pavilion wedding season runs from mid-April through early November. During the off-season, we can host smaller weddings of up to 75 guests inside the clubhouse.
WHAT IS THE PAVILION LIKE?
The pavilion is a fully covered, climate-controlled event space with white ceiling drapery, warm lighting, a full-service bar and a dedicated dance floor. Two outdoor patios provide additional space when weather allows.
CAN WE HOLD OUR CEREMONY AT VALLEY RIDGE?
Yes. Ceremony options are available at Valley Ridge. Couples can also upgrade to a lakeside ceremony and guest lodging at The Cottages on Petite Lake.
CAN WE BRING OUR OWN VENDORS AND DESSERTS?
Yes. Couples may choose their own wedding vendors, including their dessert provider. We also maintain a list of trusted referrals, many of which offer discounts to Valley Ridge couples.

CAN FOOD AND BAR PACKAGES BE CUSTOMIZED?

CAN WE BRING OUR OWN DÉCOR?
Yes. You are welcome to bring your own décor or work with a professional decorator. You may also use our included décor collection and have our team place your selected pieces according to the approved design plan.
All included décor selections are finalized and guaranteed during your design-planning meeting.
WHEN CAN WE BEGIN SETTING UP?
Personal items and supplies may be dropped off the day before your wedding. Wedding-day access begins at 10am, with flexibility available when needed.
Our team handles the venue setup, selected décor placement, teardown and cleanup.
WHAT TIME DOES THE VENUE CLOSE?
Event times vary by package, but teardown and final clear-out must be completed by midnight. Our staff handles the venue cleanup and assists with removing personal items, couple-provided décor and leftover food at the end of the night.
WHAT PLANNING SUPPORT IS INCLUDED?
Our team assists with your floor plan, timeline, venue logistics and setup details. We communicate with vendors about venue-related information, timing and setup needs.
This is not full-service wedding planning, and we do not manage vendors or communicate with them on the couple’s behalf outside of venue-related needs.
HOW DOES THE COTTAGES OPTION WORK?
The Cottages is located approximately three miles from Valley Ridge and can be added for a lakeside ceremony, getting-ready space and guest lodging.

Yes. Smaller celebrations and micro wedding options are available based on your guest count, preferred date and desired experience.
